St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School is currently seeking a PE Teacher/Head Baseball Coach. Located in Columbus, Georgia, St. Anne-Pacelli is a college preparatory age 1 through 12th grade school dedicated to giving children opportunities to learn in a safe, supportive environment where they can develop relationships with others and with God. Position Overview

The PE Teacher/Head Baseball Coach serves as the primary physical education teacher for students in grades 9-12. Responsibilities include fostering a classroom environment that promotes and develops an understanding of the relationship of healthy body/mental/emotional function and exercise; and instructing athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success while using a demonstrated understanding of the educational and social mission and values of the school.

Essential Job Functions

-Demonstrate a commitment to Catholic values and the promotion of the associated culture within a Catholic school.
-Provide all aspects of the physical education curriculum and program planning.
-Create a learning experience that motivates each student to cultivate physical fitness and appropriate social and emotional adjustment.
-Discover and develop talents of students in physical achievement that develops strength, skill agility, poise, and coordination in accordance with each student’s ability.
-Work as a team with other teachers in the department, including sharing space & equipment.
-Participate in gym, fitness center and locker room supervision.
-Commit to professional growth to enhance student learning.
-Effectively and consistently communicate and interact with students, parents, staff, and community.
-Abide by the rules of the school, the sport, and the GISA, while demonstrating the teaching values, and the ethical and moral behavior in line with the mission of the school.
-Delegate duties, supervise implementation, and at season’s end, analyze and evaluate staff members and their effectiveness according to school and sport policy.
-Manage and maintain individual sport schedule, including all communication with administration, parents and student-athletes.
-Accurately assess players’ skills and potential contributions to the sport.
-Assist in the necessary preparation to hold scheduled sports events or practices, including planning and scheduling information, and adheres to scheduled facility time. Coordinate program with maintenance and school employees.
-Follow the direction of the Athletic Trainer in respect to injury, training, and injury prevention.
-Recommend policy, method or procedural changes at the request of the Athletic Director.
-Communicate effectively with parents, students, and other stakeholders regarding all processes, procedures, rules, and policies of the school and individual program.
-Maintain a positive working relationship with all school stakeholders, especially Athletic Department staff and fellow coaches.
-Develop good team spirit and morale, instilling a positive and energetic culture in the program.
-Adhere to budget policies and procedures. Is responsible for operating within budgeted appropriations.
-Responsible for all equipment, inventory, and communication of program needs to maintain a safe and successful program.
-Perform other related duties as assigned.
