Job Summary

The Director of Programs is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the programs, including middle school, junior varsity and varsity, at Brookstone School. This role involves developing and implementing strategies to enhance player development, ensuring competitive performance, and fostering a positive and inclusive environment for athletes. The Director will work closely with coaches, student-athletes, and parents to achieve the program’s goals and uphold the institution’s values and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Development and Management:

    • Develop and implement comprehensive basketball program strategies and objectives.

    • Oversee the development of coaching plans, practice schedules, and game strategies.

    • Coordinate and supervise all aspects of the basketball programs, including training, competition, and recruitment.

  • Coaching and Leadership:

    • Recruit, mentor, and evaluate coaching staff for all boys’ and girls’ teams.

    • Conduct regular meetings with coaches to review program goals, performance, and development plans.

    • Promote and ensure adherence to best practices in coaching, player development, and sportsmanship.

  • Player Development:

    • Design and implement training programs to enhance player skills, fitness, and overall performance.

    • Monitor and evaluate individual player progress and provide feedback to players and coaches.

    • Organize and oversee basketball clinics, camps, and other developmental opportunities.

  • Administrative Duties:

    • Manage program budgets, including allocation of resources and equipment.

    • Coordinate travel arrangements for games and tournaments.

    • Ensure compliance with all league, conference, and school regulations and policies.

  • Community and Parent Engagement:

    • Build and maintain positive relationships with players, parents, and the community.

    • Organize and participate in community outreach and fundraising events.

    • Address concerns and feedback from parents and stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.

  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

    • Track and analyze team and individual performance metrics.

    • Prepare and present regular reports on program performance, achievements, and areas for improvement.

    • Collaborate with the Athletic Director to set and review program goals and objectives.

Key Qualifications

Education:  Minimum of 5 years of coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.

Additional Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proven ability to develop and implement effective training and development programs.

  • Knowledge of basketball strategies, techniques, and best practices.

  • Ability to manage budgets and administrative tasks effectively.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel to various locations for games, meetings, and events.

  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
