Head Football Coach
Washington County High School of Sandersville, Georgia, is seeking applicants for the position of Head Football Coach. The successful candidate will employ supportive classroom instruction techniques to develop successful student-athletes while also providing disciplined coaching of football fundamentals and team performance to current and future team members. The incumbent will be responsible for the successful management of the district-wide football program, including the supervision of all high school Assistant Coaches.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Head Football Coach will oversee all operations of the high school football program at all levels which include Junior Varsity and Varsity.
• Must have a comprehensive 12-month plan for the Washington County High School Football Program to include strength and conditioning, nutrition, and skill development
• Must have the ability to build and cultivate positive relationships within the community, recreation department, booster club members, faculty and other athletic department personnel
• Must have the ability to build relationships with current players and returning assistant coaches
• Will be responsible for scheduling of games for Junior Varsity and Varsity
• Will collaborate with all lower school football coaches to develop successful athletes as they advance through district programs
• Recommend, supervise, and evaluate all high school football staff
• Must have a plan to expose the student athletes to opportunities to play at the next level and the ability to execute the plan
• Assist student-athletes with college recruitment process, including promotion of athletic capabilities, communication with college recruiters, campus visits, providing performance statistics and films, etc.
• Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation
• Apply and enforce student discipline policies during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property
• Encourage sportsmanlike conduct and respect in all phases of athletic participation at all times
• Maintain and secure all football equipment and uniforms and oversee the process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all athletic equipment
• Manage football facilities, including locker rooms and field house, to maintain a clean and professional environment for students and coaching staff
• Participate in special activities, including senior night, banquets, award nights and pep assemblies
• Organize special events for the football program
• Conduct conferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the athletic performance of their student
• Follow established procedures in the event of an injury involving an athlete or staff member
• Must be a team player and promote multi-sport athletes
• Must be willing to work with the booster club and assist in fundraising efforts for the Football program
• Must support and comply with current athletic department policies
• Must be willing and able to work with all other programs (academic, arts, and athletic)
• Coordinate and oversee all football try-outs, practices, schedules, and facility usage/practice areas for the high school football program
• Coordinate with the recreation department regarding football activities
• Be a liaison between the recreation department football program and the high school football program
• Must have knowledge and understanding of the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) By-Laws and Constitution
• Maintain records to ensure compliance with all pertinent GHSA regulations, including eligibility forms, transfer forms, and grade reports, and ensure that regulations are followed
• Attend staff development, clinics, and other professional trainings to improve coaching performance
• Represent the School District and the football program professionally at all times
• Must be willing to carry out other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Athletic Director and Principal
Qualifications
Minimum
• Valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission teaching certificate
Preferred
• CPR & First Aid certified (or willing to obtain)
• Previous head coach or coordinator experience with a winning record

Work Conditions
