Chestatee High School is home to one of Georgia’s most consistent wrestling programs annually competing at the highest level in the state. We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and dedicated Head Wrestling Coach to lead our program, develop student-athletes, and uphold our tradition of excellence.
Position Overview:
The Head Wrestling Coach will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the wrestling program, including coaching, athlete development, recruitment, and program administration. This individual must demonstrate strong leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to foster a culture of discipline, sportsmanship, and success both on and off the mat.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive wrestling program from middle school to varsity levels.
Provide leadership, mentorship, and skill development for student-athletes.
Plan and lead daily practices, conditioning programs, and match preparation.
Organize and oversee all aspects of competition, including scheduling, travel, and scouting opponents.
Foster a positive and competitive team culture emphasizing academic success, character development, and sportsmanship.
Collaborate with school administration, athletic department staff, and booster organizations.
Ensure compliance with GHSA regulations, school policies, and safety protocols.
Develop offseason training programs, camps, and clinics to promote program growth.
Recruit and retain student-athletes while maintaining high participation and retention rates.
Manage the program budget, fundraising efforts, and procurement of equipment.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a head coach or assistant coach at the high school or collegiate level.
Strong knowledge of wrestling techniques, training methods, and program development.
Proven ability to develop and mentor student-athletes academically and athletically.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Experience working with booster clubs and fundraising initiatives is preferred.
Understanding of GHSA rules and regulations.
